(More customer reviews)Not only were these jackets not designed properly, Tourmaster's vaunted customer service is failing too.

The jacket has a vent on each sleeve. The bottom of that vent is not sealed. The result is that it acts exactly like a funnel to channel all the water on the outside of the sleeve inside the sleeve. In other words, the "waterproof" jacket is anything but.

Sending the jacket back to Tourmaster has also been an interesting challenge. They tested the jacket, decided that it did, indeed, leak, and proceeded to issue a replacement, or so the story goes. At this point, I've been without a jacket for four weeks because "they are replacing so many of these that they can't get them out fast enough."

Oh, and I almost forgot to mention that the zipper holding the hoodie broke the first time I used it.

I'd go elsewhere for a jacket.

TourMaster DSX PANT BLACK 34" X 34" Review

(More customer reviews)The Tourmaster/Cortech DSX denim motorcycle pants are what I was looking for to ride in the warmer weather. They are comfortable while riding since they seem to be more breathable than the padded motorcycle pants that I usually wear. Denim, though, can be really oppressive in the hot humid weather when you finally get to your destination.
I find that the plastic knee protectors (which are removable) tend to bother me when walking around because the top of the protector hits the bottom of my knee cap unless I pull the pants way up around the top of my waist. In that case I take the protectors out.

(More customer reviews)Overall a very good product.I bought it largely based on Shoei's reputation.However, I also own a similar, less expensive helmet from Scorpion with better features.On the Shoei chin strap, no quick release on the d-ring, no snap to keep the free end from flapping, and the strap position is a bit too close to the neck.The Scorpion also has a retractable eye shield and better ventilation.

What I did not realize/think about was that the size of the opening is only about half the size of the bag itself. The bag may be 9.5 inches wide and 13.5 inches long, but the opening is 6.5 by 10.5. There is no way you can get anything hard that is larger than that into the bag.

While thankfully, I have not had the misfortune to test these out in a crash, I am certain they are much better than your standard pair of jeans-and are just as cool as a pair of shorts. I actually wear shorts underneath them and then will take off the pants when I reach my destination. As such, I get both the protection of a well made pair of protective pants, and the ventilation of a pair of shorts. This is my second pair of Tourmaster cortech pants and I have no complaints with either pair.

Tour Master Intake Air 2 Jacket - 4X-Large/Black Review

(More customer reviews)I was in the market for a good motorcycle jack for a while. And after a lot of research, I decided I wanted the tourmaster intake air series 2. I went to the local riding store and bought a pair of gloves and while inside, tried on the jacket. I normaly wear a large. So I picked up the large, put it on. It fit like a glove. I said, okay..thats the one. Large it is. So I went home, logged into amazon.com and bought the jacket in size large. SO once I got the jacket I put in on and it once again fit like a glove. Until.... I removed the inner layers. This jacket come with three layers. An outside mesh coat, and water/wind resistant insert, and a insulated jacket insert. But this is why I wanted this jacket. I thought it would be a great three season coat. So once the two internal layers were removed the jacket seems a bit loose. The padding on the arms kinda flops and just doesn't feel "tight". Put the layers back in and its perfect. So in closure, great coat, good quality..but you may want one size smaller then normal. But if you choose the smaller size, you may not be able to fit in the insulated vest. I say this because it takes up the most space being that it's full of insulation. I might buy another tourmaster jacket for summer riding. And keep this one for spring/fall. The jet (not sure) is the same jacket with out the insulated layer.

TourMaster SYNERGY VEST LNR W/COLLR 4L Review

(More customer reviews)The vest is truly awsome.I got the vest with the collar for Christmas. It literally took five minutes to connect the wiring to the battery. I wore it under an insulated coverall and leather jacket (without the insulated lining) with a pair of Tourmaster Winter Elite gloves. The first time it was 33 degrees out and I put the heat control on medium. Riding the GoldWing, running some errands, I started to sweat and had to turn it down to the low setting. Today I rode with the temperature outside 11 degrees F, same gear. Had the temp set on high and stayed toasty for the 8 mile ride to my office. My hands hardly began to feel the cold in spite of riding at 70 mph on the interstate. When the temp was 25 degrees F., same gear, I rode for 35 minutes last week in comfort. I'm thinking about buying the Synergy gloves if this weather stays this cold (8 degrees last night) and I want to ride farther. I don't think I really have the need for the pant liners right now, and they'd be too difficult to remove once at the office. But if I decided to ride farther just for the ride, the pant liners would be a real plus. If the gloves and pant liners work as well as the vest, the only reason to stop riding in the winter is snow and ice. Just haven't figured out how to get those tire chains on quickly, lol.

I like tha extra lining for the colderweather as well. The only thing is the size. No matter what size i tried on they just didn't fit super great. Always a little baggy in the thigh area. [...] was great to deal with and I'm sure I'll be purchasing things from them in the future. If your looking for a good pant, decent armour and a great price, these are them.

Tour Master Transition Series 2 Motorcycle Jacket XX-Large (48) Red Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this jacket because I was unhappy with my First Gear 3/4-length jacket - one of the zippers was jammed and the pull-tab broke off, and the liner didn't fit well; the sleeves were too long. I also liked and wanted the yellow color - as a former MSF instructor I believe in visibility as a component of safe cycling.

I tried to judge the color of the Tourmaster to match my yellow Arai helmet. They're close enough, but not quite a match.

After wearing for a month+, my initial impression of the Transition 2 is of higher quality than the First Gear. The old jacket is maybe a little warmer in winter riding (Albuquerque winter, high 20s to 30s F) but the Tourmaster fits me better (portly extra-large) with adjustable straps to cinch down lower and upper arms and side belts for the waist. The cuffs snug down nicely with hook-n-loop closures to fit inside my gauntlet gloves.

My biggest complaints about the Tm center on the collar and the handwarmer pockets. The collar is a little large and low, which allows a draft at highway speeds. I have taken to wearing an Aerostitch Wind Triangle to fill the void. The collar also has hook-n-loop material all the way to its end, which makes it difficult to open with gloved hands. You have to dig a little with your thumbnail to start parting the h-n-l closure. A small pull-tab would enhance the collar design. It does have a snap that mates to a snap on the shoulder for keeping the collar open in warm weather.

My old FG jacket has luxurious plush-lined handwarmer pockets for when you are off the bike and walking around. The Tm also has similar pockets, but they aren't softly lined and they are positioned less conveniently.

A significant improvement over the FG jacket is the Tm liner. It just fits better in the jacket, and the sleeves don't peek out under the cuffs of the jacket. The Tm uses two snap straps to secure each liner sleeve in the jacket, whereas the FG just used one per.

I have only had the liner out of the jacket a couple of days, and the weather hasn't been warm enough to experiment with the vents yet. I noticed that the vents have snaps to pull them open when they are unzipped. That's a neat design touch, but I don't know yet how well they'll work. I have not had occasion to test the Tm's water resistance yet.

Side notes: the vendor shipped the jacket with a sturdy hanger. They also accidentally shipped me a duplicate order - two jackets for the price of one. I e-mailed them to notify them of their mistake. It took them weeks to get around to sending UPS to pick up the surplus jacket.

HJC SYMAX 2 PEARL WHITE MEDIUM Review

(More customer reviews)As the title implies, I've owned an HJC Symax helmet since 2003.Now, after over six years and tens of thousands of miles, the lining was wearing in the rear and the strength of the shell starts to become suspect from all the sunshine and heat it has endured.I've been a happy Symax owner, so I was a bit concerned about how I'd like the replacement.

First the fit:The basic fit of the shell seems the same as the original Symax, the peripheral vision seems the same and the clearance between the chin bar and my chin is identical.The new helmet is a bit more snug, but I suspect that's due entirely to the lining in the old one being compressed a bit from years of use.

Ventilation:There is no comparison.The ventilation in the Symax II is light years better than the original.With the top vent open I can actually feel the air going over my head.Nice.The chin bar vent is also more effective, so the combination is just outstanding.

The nifty new feature on the Symax II is the built-in sunshade.It's a great idea, and works reasonably well, but it really misses the mark a bit.While HJC advertises it has three positions (four if you count retracted) the fully extended position is really just for removing and replacing the lens.The primary two operating detents are VERY close together and almost at the fully extended position.It really needs one more position where it can act like the dark band at the top of a car windshield - far enough down to shade the eyes, but not so far down you are actually looking through it.

It's a great helmet, the flip-up chin bar functions flawlessly, the sun shade is a nice add-on and the ventilation is outstanding.All in all a worthy successor to the original Symax.
